The Fairgate Inn is pleased to have been selected as the new home of the Camas Washougal Chamber of Commerce. The CW Chamber will hold its monthly luncheon meetings at the inn beginning with its February 21st event. Members of the chamber include industrial giants such as Georgia Pacific and Hewlett-Packard as well as diverse corporations like C-Tech, Underwriters Lab and Pendleton Woolen Mills. The Chamber promotes “positive business leadership, participation, collaboration and accountability” for the community. Their mission includes being the primary business advocate for the areas of Camas, Washougal and East Clark County. Predictions for travel in 2013 point to continued popularity in staying on the ground vs paying the high cost of air travel. According to Conde Nast’s, The Daily Traveler, airlines have hiked air fares repeatedly in the past two years—about ten percent overall. The consensus is that fares will rise another three percent in 2013. The good news is that when the economy does allow for more of us to take those dream trips, we’ll have better planes to do it in. After ten years of losses and bankruptcies, U.S. airlines are finally adding new aircraft to their fleets, replacing the old dogs with state of the art 787 Dreamliners and the newest versions of the 737 and A320s. Look for better seating, more amenities such as in-flight Wi-Fi, individual screens with more entertainment and better seating. Although Spring and Summer still top the list, brides are falling in love with the allure and magic of the winter season. And why not? The sit down dinner was a feast for all combining salmon and filet mignon followed by a wonderful dessert to top the evening off. The service was excellent and attention to detail was superb. One of the great benefits was being able to have our out-of-town guests stay at this bed and breakfast.
