Just 5 minutes down the hill from The Fairgate Inn, lives award winning artist, Ulrike Halverson. Born and raised in Vienna, Austria, Ulrike is still a world traveler but makes Camas her home. After a career as a physical therapist and raising a family, Ulrike decided to pursue her dream of being an artist. Nothing pleases her more than painting the scenes she so dearly loves, especially on site. Her sketchbooks are filled with colorful renderings of places all over Europe and the west coast. Framed works line the walls of her home studio and still more fill a large closet – ready for a gallery show. On a recent visit, Ulrike pointed to two very special works; one is a painting she did of her daughter holding her baby. It captures all the sweetness of motherhood. The other is a still life oil painting done by her grandmother 100 years ago. “It’s the only one of hers,” she says with a sparkle in her eyes. “I’m very glad to have it.” And we are very glad to have Ulrike as a neighbor. WIN Goes Wild at The Fairgate

The Fairgate Inn hosted the Women In Networking NW “WIN Gone Wild” event last week and what a blast. The capacity crowd really got into the holiday spirit and enjoyed mixing and mingling while munching on a lavish appetizer buffet. Simply Sweets provided an array of mini-cupcakes that satisified the fussiest sweet tooth. And four lucky winners went home with gift certificates for lodging and breakfast at The Fairgate Inn. Now that’s a WINning event!

Holiday Concert Wows Guests

The Fairgate Inn hosted Aaron Meyer and Tim Ellis in a special holiday concert on Friday night and the response tells us we’ll be doing it again. Everything from the elaborate appetizer buffet to the holiday decor made this evening a wonderful one. And the music … amazing. Toes were tapping, faces smiling and the audience was in awe of the artistry of rock violinist, Aaron Meyer and guitarist, Tim Ellis. Friday, October 7th 5-8 pm

Along with fun sales and featured fall items, participating downtown businesses willhave their own artfully carved pumpkin on display. Many of the pumpkins will be decorated by Mrs. Mariotti Shapard’s CHS art class.

What an amazing year we have had so far! To all of the brides & grooms and their families that have blessed us with their weddings and receptions, we want to say THANK YOU! We wish all of you the very best. Now, it may seem odd, but we are already looking ahead to the holidays and summer is barely half way through! Company Christmas parties and the like takes a lot of planning on our part- as much as getting ready for wedding season!

In conclusion, this is the first of many upcoming blog postings, but please bear with me as we take part in the technology age. You see, this is something that I never thought I would be doing. I am used to investing my time with people, but I look forward to relating to our fans through this process.
